What Lies Ahead? Facing Uncertainty with Purpose
When we are born and raised, we start out as people who burn with passion, with the grit to become something and to achieve. But life is not a fantasy. At times it will knock you to the ground until you feel you can't stand up. So what lies ahead? We reach a point where we are scared of the future. Scared of what happens next. The fear of losing interest, the fear of not being enough. So what really lies ahead?
The simple answer: we don't know
And that's how it should be. That's why it's called the future, "a time that is to come." We can't make final assumptions about it, but plans can help you shape the direction of your life. It's natural to worry and to feel anxious about what's next. Keep in mind that constant worry feeds negative feelings that can drain you emotionally, and it's okay to seek professional help if it starts to affect your mental wellbeing.
As you move through transitions in life, know that it's okay not to know what's going to happen, even if you don't have a plan yet. What moves us toward the future is our action. Trying is always the first step for your own life and your own faith. Never be ashamed of trying.
Look how far you've come
Simply living is a sign of progress. Look back. Remember the times when failure felt like the only option and defeat felt certain, and yet here you are, reading this. Don't be afraid of what lies ahead, even if you're not settled in life yet. Most importantly, never get tired of learning. Don't worry too much. You'll figure out what to do, just like you always have.
